Common Questions

What cameras are compatible?

ImageImporter works with any PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) compatible camera. This includes most modern mirrorless and DSLR cameras from:

Connect your camera via USB using a Lightning to USB Camera Adapter (for older iPhones/iPads) or a USB-C adapter.

How do I import only JPEGs?

  1. Connect your camera via USB
  2. In the Camera tab, use the filter options at the top
  3. Select "JPEG" to show only JPEG files
  4. Select the photos you want to import
  5. Tap "Import Selected"

Where do imported photos go?

Photos first go to the Staging area where you can review, cull, and select which ones to keep. From the Stage tab, select photos and tap "Push to Photos" to add them to your iOS Photos library.

What is the S3/Web feature?

The optional S3/Web feature allows you to upload photos directly to your own S3-compatible cloud storage (like Cloudflare R2, AWS S3, etc.). This is useful for:

You must configure your own storage account—we don't provide storage or access your files.

Does the app store my photos?

No. All photos are stored locally on your device:

If you use the S3 feature, photos go directly to YOUR storage account, not ours.

How much does it cost?

ImageImporter is a one-time purchase with no subscription. All features are included.

Does the app track me or collect my data?

No. ImageImporter:

See our Privacy Policy for complete details.

How do I delete staged photos?

In the Stage tab:

What if I run out of storage?

ImageImporter automatically checks available storage before importing photos. If there isn't enough space, you'll see a warning with the amount of space required.

To free up space:

Can I use this with iCloud Photos?

Yes! Photos you add to your iOS Photos library will automatically sync with iCloud Photos if you have it enabled in iOS Settings.

The app says "No camera connected"

Make sure:

  1. Your camera is turned on
  2. Camera is connected via Lightning/USB-C adapter
  3. Camera is in playback/review mode (not shooting mode)
  4. USB adapter is firmly connected to both camera and iPhone/iPad
  5. Camera supports PTP protocol (most modern cameras do)

Try unplugging and reconnecting the camera if it's not detected.
